Privacy Notice
How your personal information is collected, used and looked after, in plain English.
- I only collect what you send me through the enquiry form or by email, plus basic technical data needed to run the website.
- I use it to reply, quote, deliver work and keep proper records — never for advertising, and I never sell it.
- This website sets no cookies and doesn’t track you, so there’s no cookie banner.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time: support@ajldigitalstudio.co.uk.
01Who I am
AJL Digital Studio is the trading name of Adam Lee, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. I’m the controller of the personal information described in this notice, which means I decide how it’s used and I’m responsible for looking after it.
For anything about your data, email support@ajldigitalstudio.co.uk. You’ll hear back from me directly.
This notice covers this website, enquiries you send me, templates you buy, and the records I keep when I quote for or work on a project.
02What I collect
When you send an enquiry
The enquiry form asks for:
- your name and email address (required)
- your company or event name (optional)
- the kind of help you need, such as a new website or support
- a description of your project
- a rough budget and target launch date (optional)
If you email me instead, I receive your email address, name and whatever you choose to include in your message. Please don’t send sensitive information (such as health details) unless it’s genuinely needed.
If you become a client
Contact details for you and anyone you ask me to deal with, project correspondence, quotes and agreements, invoices and payment records (for example, the amount and date paid — not your card details), and the content you supply for your website.
If I host or maintain your website, it may itself collect information about your visitors. You’re usually the controller of that data and I act on your instructions; that’s covered in our project agreement rather than here.
If you buy a template
Templates are listed on Framer Marketplace and paid for through a secure checkout operated by Stripe. I receive your name, email address, the product, amount and date of payment and a payment reference — never your full card details. I use these to email you the template and setup guide, provide support, handle refunds and keep accounting records.
When you visit this website
Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages process technical information needed to send them to your browser and to keep the site secure: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request. These may be kept briefly in security and error logs.
This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or social media plugins, and doesn’t build a profile of you.
03How I use it, and why I’m allowed to
Data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information. These are the ones I rely on:
Replying to enquiries and preparing quotes or proposals
Lawful basis: legitimate interests
Responding to people who get in touch and explaining what I can offer. Where you’re asking about a website for yourself as an individual, I also rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Delivering a project or support plan
Lawful basis: contract, or legitimate interests
Contract where the agreement is with you personally; legitimate interests where you’re acting for a business or organisation, so I can work with its contacts.
Delivering and supporting a template you’ve bought
Lawful basis: contract
Emailing your template and setup guide, answering support questions and handling refunds.
Client administration, invoicing and accounts
Lawful basis: legal obligation and contract
Issuing invoices, taking payment and keeping the financial records required by tax law.
Running and securing this website
Lawful basis: legitimate interests
Delivering pages, preventing abuse (including spam through the enquiry form), fixing faults.
Handling disputes and legal claims
Lawful basis: legitimate interests
Keeping records needed to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Where I rely on legitimate interests, I’ve considered that the use is expected, limited to what’s needed and doesn’t override your rights. You can object at any time (see your rights).
I don’t currently rely on consent for anything. If that changes — for example, a newsletter — I’ll ask first, and you’ll be able to withdraw your consent as easily as you gave it.
You don’t have to give me any information, but I can’t reply to an enquiry without an email address, or carry out a project without the details needed to do it. I don’t sell personal information, use it for advertising or make decisions about you by automated means.
05International transfers
Some of the providers above may store or process data outside the UK. When that happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires — such as a UK adequacy decision for the country concerned, or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.
Email support@ajldigitalstudio.co.uk if you’d like more detail about a particular transfer.
06How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don’t go ahead: up to 12 months after our last contact, in case you come back to the project, then deleted.
- Client records, agreements and correspondence: for the length of our working relationship and then up to six years, the period in which legal claims can usually be made.
- Invoices and accounting records: for as long as tax law requires — currently up to six years after the end of the financial year they relate to.
- Website request and security logs: for a short period set by the hosting provider, normally a matter of days or weeks.
07Keeping it secure
This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, the enquiry form includes spam protection, and I use reputable providers and protect the accounts that hold your information with strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available. Access is limited to me. No system is perfectly secure, but if something ever went wrong that put your information at risk, I’d act quickly and tell you and the ICO where the law requires.
09Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
- ask me to delete your information
- ask me to limit how I use it
- object to my using it on the basis of legitimate interests
- receive information you gave me in a portable format, where the law provides for it
- withdraw consent at any time, where I’ve asked for it
Some rights have limits — for example, I may need to keep invoices for tax purposes even if you ask me to delete them. If so, I’ll explain why.
To make a request, email support@ajldigitalstudio.co.uk. There’s normally no charge. I may need to confirm your identity, and I’ll respond within one month (this can be extended for complex requests, and I’d tell you if so).
10Concerns and complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first at support@ajldigitalstudio.co.uk — I’ll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and do my best to put things right.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator:
- Online: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Phone: 0303 123 1113
- Post: Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF
11Changes to this notice
I’ll update this notice when the way I handle personal information changes, and change the date at the top. If a change significantly affects you as a client, I’ll let you know directly. Please also see the website terms of use.
